  7. ESQL Guru is a C source code generator for Oracle. It generates complete Pro*C
  8. subprograms, along with a sample main program for testing and benchmarking, a
  9. header file for the data structure, and a make file. The application developer
  10. provides the SQL statement, dictionary definitions of columns, and parameters
  11. to customize the output

  13. Guru also operates on a table basis. Instead of providing an SQL statement, the
  14. application developer provides a table description. Separate subprograms are
  15. generated for delete, insert, select, and update operations
  16.  
  17. Guru increases productivity by generating code that is repetitive and
  18. voluminous: host and indicator variables, error handling, data movement between
  19. program and host variables, and cursor management. The generated code is
  20. efficient, modular, and compact. To application developers, the subprograms
  21. generated by the Guru are black-boxes that are invoked to perform database
  22. operations.
